Stone Quarry Bags
These unique bags were made by the students of Anne Tinkas St. Catherines Vocational School, St. Catherines Parish, Uganda. Notice the actual stone we brought back to the States from a visited stone quarry.
The children are used as "little slaves" and a form of income for their families/guardians. Subsequently their lungs and eyes are damaged; arms, legs and bodies stunted/harmed. No protective gear is used and physical and mental abuse is common practice.
And yes there are child labor laws in Uganda; but they are certainly not enforced!
The sale of each bag shall go towards the education of young children (ages 4-18 years) working daily in the quarries; earning 25 cents to $1.50. A portion thereof will also be used for a school vegetable garden to provide proper nuitrition.
Thank you so much for your kindness!
