Uganda Trip 2009

Itinerary

18th August 2009: Arrive Entebbe and overnight at the Lake Victoria Hotel.

19th August 2009 - Morning sail to Ngamba Island. Afternoon, can be spent on lectures by the Ngamba Island Caretakers. Overnight at Ngamba Island Tented Camp and CSWCT Guest House. (Jane Goodalls Island for orphaned chimpanzees)

20th August 2009 - Sail to the nearby Island for a full day medical clinic. The evening would be available for some of you for the walk with the Chimps. Overnight at Ngamba Island Tented Camp and CSWCT Guest House.
21st August 2009 - Another day at the Island with the medical clinic. Evening, would be spent on the forest walk for the others. Overnight at Ngamba Island Tented Camp and CSWCT Guest House.

22nd August 2009 - Chimpanzee walk in the forest for any others who would not have had a chance to participate. Overnight at Ngamba Island Tented Camp and CSWCT Guest House.

23rd August 2009: Morning, sail to Entebbe and transfer through the Local drum makers place at Mpambire. Lunch can be provided by the orphans at the Uganda Equator before heading to Mbarara for overnight at the Lakeview Hotel.

24th August 2009: Early morning breakfast before heading to down through the farmlands and on to Bwindi Impenetrable forest for overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

25th August 2009 - Buhoma Primary school projects - Vegetable, Flower, poultry and fruit instruction. Overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

26th August 2009 - Morning is spent visiting the Buhoma Communities. After lunch, visit the local herbalist, bee keeping projects, local beer brewing and finally the cultural entertainment by the local Batwa communities.overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

27th August 2009 - Travel to Butogota to visit the Trinity College. Overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

28th August 2009 - Briefing by park ranger guides. Later with picnic lunch, start 30 minutes - 8 hours trek to find the Mountain gorillas. The tracking starts at the area where the gorillas were the previous day. After a full hour with the gorillas, return to your accommodations for dinner and overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

29th August 2009 - Medical clinic at Bwindi. Overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

30th August 2009 - Medical clinic at Bwindi. Overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi/Kitandara Camp.

31st August 2009 -
Morning at leisure with optional activities like
(1) Game viewing in Ishasha in search of the tree climbing Lions, Elephants, Cape Buffalo, Hippos, Topi, Uganda Kob and birdlife.
(2) Birdwatching at Ruhija where one can also see the rare l'hoeste Monkeys Blue Monkeys.
The evening, we would have the party for the Children at the Gorilla Resort.....

01st September 2009 - Morning travel to Lake Bunyonyi. Meeting with Sam about the projects on the Island. Overnight at the Bunyonyi Arcadia Cottages.

02nd September 2009 - Meeting with Sam. New projects in the area. Overnight at the Bunyonyi Arcadia Cottages.

03rd September 2009 - A morning trip to the Kievu market where it is possible to visit the pygmy villagers that come to sell off their crafts. Afternoon, Medical Clinic. Overnight at the Bunyonyi Arcadia Cottages.

04th September 2009 - Fullday clinic at Lake Bunyonyi. Overnight at the Bunyonyi Arcadia Cottages.

05th September 2009: Morning drive to Mbarara and on to Lake Mburo National Park. We will have a game walk with a ranger here getting as close to game as possible. Animals here include: Zebra, Cape Buffalo, Reedbuck, Impala, Eland, Topi and colorful birds. Meals and overnight at the Mihingo Lodge/Mantana tented Camp. 3.5 Hours transit

06th September 2009: After breakfast, transfer to Kampala for overnight at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. 4 hours.

07th September 2009: Drive to Entebbe airport for flight back home. 45 minutes.
